Who was Medusa?
Medusa is one of three gorgons in Greek Mythology. They are the daughters of the sea god Phorcys and his wife, Ceto, who lived in the west near the setting sun.
The Gorgons were feared and powerful during their times.
What does Medusa represent?
Medusa's head is a symbol used for protection against evil spirits (similar to that of protection against the evil eye), and her head was placed around temples to signal to women that it was a safe place.
